Flatwarts, Sebaceous Hyperlasia (per area)
What is Sebaceous Hyperlasia?
Electrocautery uses electricity to remove tissue. It’s often used to remove moles or warts. It’s precise, causes minimal bleeding, lowers infection risks, and heals quickly.
Pre-Procedure Guidelines
Prepare your skin and body for safe, comfortable treatment:
✅ 3–5 Days Before
Avoid sun exposure and tanning of the treatment area.
Discontinue use of retinoids, acids (AHA/BHA), exfoliants, or harsh products.
Do not schedule chemical peels, facials, or laser treatments in the same area.
Inform your doctor if you:
– Have a history of keloids or – poor wound healing
– Are taking blood thinners or have a pacemaker
– Are pregnant or breastfeeding
– Have any skin infections, active acne, or cold sores
✅ On the Day of Treatment
Arrive with a clean, product-free face or skin.
Avoid applying makeup, lotions, or SPF on the treatment area.
Wear loose-fitting clothing if the area to be treated is on the body.
Eat a light meal beforehand to prevent dizziness or lightheadedness
Post Procedure Guidelines
Care for the treated area properly to minimize risk and support healing:
🩹 What to Expect
Minor redness, scabbing, or crusting at the treated site is normal.
Pinpoint scabs may form and will fall off naturally in 5–10 days.
Mild swelling or warmth may occur for the first 24 hours.
✅ Do This
Gently clean the area with mild soap and water—do not scrub.
Apply antibiotic ointment or prescribed topical as instructed.
Pat dry only—avoid rubbing or picking the area.
Use broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30+) once skin is intact and healed.
Stay hydrated and follow any specific instructions from your provider.
🚫 Avoid This
Do not pick, scratch, or peel scabs—they will fall off naturally.
No makeup, creams, or actives until cleared by your provider (usually 5–7 days).
Avoid sun exposure, hot showers, steam rooms, or sweaty activities for 48–72 hours.
Do not use exfoliating products, retinol, or acids until the area is fully healed.
