Dermal Fillers
What is Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers help plump up the skin, reducing wrinkles and adding volume to the face. They use a substance called hyaluronic acid, which is natural to the body, to make the skin look younger and smoother.
Pre-Procedure Guidelines
Help reduce the risk of bruising, swelling, and irritation for a safe and beautiful result.
✅ 1 Week Before Treatment
Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements, including:
Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Naproxen
Fish oil, Vitamin E, Garlic, Ginkgo Biloba
(Only stop with your physician’s approval.)
Refrain from alcohol and smoking, as they may increase bruising and slow healing.
Let your provider know if you:
Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to conceive
Have a history of cold sores or allergic reactions
Have had recent dental work, vaccines, or medical treatments
✅ 2–3 Days Before
Stop using active skincare products (e.g., retinoids, exfoliants, acids) on the treatment area.
Avoid facials, waxing, laser, or chemical peels in the planned injection zones.
Stay well hydrated and get adequate sleep.
✅ On the Day of Treatment
Arrive with a clean, makeup-free face.
Do not consume alcohol or caffeine beforehand.
Wear comfortable clothing and tie your hair back if necessary.
Inform your provider of any recent illness, inflammation, or skin issues.
Post Procedure Guidelines
Carefully follow these steps to reduce swelling and support healing:
🚫 Avoid for 24–48 Hours
No makeup or skincare products on treated areas unless prescribed.
Avoid touching, massaging, or pressing on the injection sites.
Do not engage in strenuous workouts, saunas, steam rooms, or hot yoga.
Avoid alcohol, salty foods, and high-sodium meals that can worsen swelling.
Do not lie flat for 4–6 hours if lips or midface were injected.
✅ Recommended Care
Mild swelling, bruising, or tenderness is normal and should subside within a few days.
Use a cold compress (light pressure) for 10 minutes at a time to reduce swelling.
Sleep on your back with your head slightly elevated the first 1–2 nights.
Stay hydrated and avoid smoking, which can interfere with healing.
📅 Results & Follow-Up
Results are immediate, though mild swelling may obscure the final look for a few days.
Bruising, if present, typically resolves within 5–10 days.
Fillers can last from 6 to 18 months, depending on the product and area treated.
A follow-up appointment may be recommended to assess symmetry and touch up if needed.
